Sessions

Come and immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of Japan through a time-honoured Japanese tradition.
Led by our tea ceremony master Keiko Onishi, the session will unfold in a Zen atmosphere, evoking an era and a country steeped in tradition, where guests are always treated as royalty.

Our master will prepare, with the utmost care and precision, matcha green tea, served with water heated to the perfect temperature, then whisked steadily with a bamboo chasen until a light, even foam forms on the surface of the bowl. You observe. You listen. You breathe.

The tea ceremony at Matsukaze Bordeaux is divided into six parts:

  • Welcome of guests and symbolic purification of the hands.
  • Entry into the tea room, simply decorated with a calligraphed scroll and a seasonal flower, evoking an ancient Japan.
  • Observation of the utensils carefully selected by the host (chawan, chasen, natsume…).
  • Meticulous preparation of matcha tea by the host.
  • Tasting of the tea by the guests, sometimes accompanied by Japanese wagashi sweets.
  • Cleaning of the utensils by the host and mutual expressions of gratitude.

Not only does this allow you to savour authentic Japanese delicacies, but also to appreciate a timeless moment and reconnect with the values and very essence of life: finding inner peace.

One hour of calm, serenity and reconnection with yourself, away from technology and the noise of everyday life. Let go of your worries and see life from a new perspective during this tea ceremony session.
